Alberto Biasi is an Italian pioneer of Kinetic and Op Art.
His vibrant geometric works are characterized by their mathematical precision and elaborate symmetry, offering the illusory sensation of movement even if the work remains perfectly still. As a founding member of the avant-garde artist collective Gruppo N, Biasi was influenced by the Dada movement and was among the first to explore the possibilities of optical illusions in painting and sculpture. His pieces address the passage of time and the collaborative nature of an artwork: “I am a kind musical instrument manufacturer, the viewer is the musician, and the artwork is co-created by the artist and viewer,” he has said.
