This exhibition takes you on a journey from 1939 to the late 1980s, following the development of some of the most influential artists associated with the CoBrA movement. While CoBrA officially existed only between 1948 and 1951, its spirit of freedom, spontaneity, and experimentation continued to inspire its members for decades.

The exhibition focuses on five key artists: Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel, Corneille, Asger Jorn, and Carl-Henning Pedersen. Through their works, you will see how their artistic language evolved—from early experiments before the Second World War to the mature and expressive paintings of the late 1980s.

Together, these artists shared a belief that art should be intuitive, imaginative, and deeply human, making CoBrA one of the most influential avant-garde movements of the twentieth century.
